Salary Guide: £18,000- £20,000

Introduction:

Our client is a Professional Services business with a long standing reputation of delivering first class services to their large and varied corporate client base

With customer service and professional delivery a key feature of their business, it has helped them grow into a leading niche player in their business, financial advice and accounting markets

This growth has necessitated a new junior team member to work closely with an experienced in house team who run the payroll functions for a vast range of external businesses in different industries. This will suit a 2nd or 3rd jobber who maybe frustrated in their current job (does not have to be in payroll or accounts). If you are looking for top training in a specialised finance function and you want a great working environment but not in a Central London location this could be your dream opportunity

The role requires a candidate who wants to pursue a long term career within the payroll department where you can develop and learn specialised tax and PAYE schemes and related business functions.

You will have regular internal training and lots of external client contact. This is not suitable for those candidates who want to qualify and become a full accounting specialist

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist in the preparation of payrolls for external clients Nationwide
  • Wages are calculated weekly and monthly and you will review adjustments & create payslips
  • Be a point of contact for client questions and queries regarding their payroll needs
  • Liaise with HMRC- Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs to resolve issues and keep updated on changes in tax laws and benefit allowances
  • Work out Maternity/ Paternity allowances, Sick Pay, redundancy payments etc
  • Become a PAYE expert over time and after training
  • Take / make calls relevant to payroll questions and reply to emails and letters
  • Ensure payments are made correctly and on time for client employees
  • Prepare weekly and monthly Returns and Employer forms
  • Work closely with more experienced team members to set up PAYE Schemes

 

Candidate Profile:

  • Someone with 2 years general or payroll experience but will train
  • Numerical skills and keen to work in a methodical numbers department
  • Happy to stay within the payroll team for many years and develop as an expert
  • Mathematically inclined with perfect spoken and written English
