Senior Compliance officer – MLRO – Luxembourg

I am recruiting for a Senior Compliance Officer MLRO – in Luxembourg.

POSITION

You will act as Compliance Officer, MLRO and Privacy Officer for the Luxembourg offices.  Based in Luxembourg you will be a key member of the Senior Compliance Management Team. 

You will provide consultation and advice to partners on compliance matters.  You will develop strategies to minimise regulatory risk and assure compliance with all local regulations and requirements. 

Handling high-profile work, you will provide direction and guidance to members of the risk and compliance function who report to you and engage with local and regional management, Boards of Directors and regulators.  The role holder will report to the Global Head of Compliance on all matters but will also have reporting obligations into the governance structures of the offices for which they are responsible.

Responsibilities

Acting as the Compliance Officer, MLRO and Privacy Officer for Luxembourg:

  • Reviews, disseminates, and interprets relevant laws and regulations and works to proactively establish and document related policies, procedures and standards
  • Verifies that activities meet local legal and regulatory requirements and regulations and monitors outcomes/risk levels for the organization or assigned area
  • Consults with partners regarding more complex daily decisions that could pose risk and conflict with existing policy, and assist with client negotiations of new and existing business on various complex issues that may conflict with bank policies and procedures
  • Communicates and provides compliance advice and requirements to managers and appropriate personnel
  • Identifies situations which pose significant compliance risk and guides management in developing policies and/or procedures that minimize that risk
  • Interacts with regulators, internal and external auditors on regulatory topics
  • Serves on internal and external groups to provide and receive advice on industry trends
  • Developing the Luxembourg Compliance team

Skills

  • Fluent French and English essential
  • Compliance experience from within a custody/asset servicing or asset manager preferred. Experience within legal also considered
  • Team management experience essential

Technical Knowledge

  • Luxembourg regulation (including fund law, AML and Privacy requirements)
  • Knowledge of regulation of US regulation would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of EU regulatory structures
  • Knowledge of the asset servicing businesses (principally fund administration and custody) conducted by the offices for which the role holder will provide compliance support
